CAFL Client Advisory Board

The Children and Family Law (CAFL) Division Client Advisory Board (CAB) is a community engagement project to uplift the voices of youth and parents within the Child and Family Law Division of the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. The mission of the CAB is to consider the question: How can CAFL best promote a more just family regulation system?

The group of eight youth and parents meet monthly over the Zoom virtual
platform on a weekday evening. The group is facilitated jointly by an external facilitator and someone who works for CAFL, either as a staff member or private bar/vendor member. The board is structured for the group to both give direct feedback to CAFL representatives and to pursue projects of their choosing. Monthly meetings include opportunities for CAB feedback on best practices, for CAFL staff to discuss organization processes with board members, and to brainstorm and develop strategies and policies to uplift lived experience within CAFL.
