Elizabeth McIntyre – EdLaw, Senior Counsel
Elizabeth McIntyre joined the EdLaw Project in October 2021 as Senior Counsel. In this capacity, she trains and mentors children’s appointed counsel in delinquency and child welfare cases, and represents court-involved young people in school discipline and related special education cases. Prior to her work at the EdLaw Project, Elizabeth founded Greater Boston Legal Services’ School to Prison Pipeline Intervention Project, a project she began in 2014 with an Equal Justice Works Fellowship. In 2018, the Project’s clients settled S.A. et al. v Boston Public Schools; in this settlement, Boston agreed to stop suspending its youngest students, limit suspensions for older students, and engage in long-term planning to support students with emotional disabilities and meaningful restorative justice. Elizabeth provides legal support and representation to student organizers, and collaborates with organizations across the state to engage in systemic education policy advocacy and litigation. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism and Boston University School of Law, and is the recipient of the Supreme Judicial Court’s Pro Bono Publico Award, the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Top Women of Law Leadership Award, and Boston University Law School’s Community Service Award.
