Laura Bickel joined the YAF Board of Directors in 2018 and has served as its Clerk since 2022. Laura has been employed as in-house counsel for National Grid since 2014. She is currently serving as a co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Environmental and Energy Law Section, and she was previously a co-chair of its Energy Law committee from 2017 to 2019. She is serving as National Grid’s 2023 Fellow with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Prior to joining National Grid, she served as a Hearing Officer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities from 2006 to 2013, and for the City of Boston Environment Department from 2004 to 2006. Laura’s work involves both large-scale and small-scale clean and renewable technologies in New England; namely, solar, onshore and offshore wind, hydroelectricity, energy storage, and anaerobic digestion. Laura is a 2003 graduate of New England Law | Boston, where she taught as an adjunct professor on energy law and policy from 2013 to 2018 and she is a 1999 graduate of McGill University in Montreal. After graduating law school, Laura served as the first Fellow to the school’s Center for Law and Social Responsibility. During summer 2001, she was a legal intern with the Committee for Public Counsel Services. She is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
